Having the idea of returning a part of what nature provides us, a decision was made to create a rescue centre for threatened animal life (fauna). Next to our hotel installations, our objective is to benefit wildlife and boost the estate´s capacities into a biological corridor, restore the eco-system and reforest with native species. Through these activities the adjacent communities can have improved repercussions, encouraging economic activity through quality ecotourism, development, and environmental education.

The more than 100 hectare estate with large areas and private environments has an area of great natural extension which has managed to preserve the indigenous forest. It also has other areas of paddocks, pastures, and thickets in regeneration on which we are working in restoring the original ecosystem.

Con la idea de devolver a la naturaleza algo de lo que nos proporciona, se decidió la creación de un centro de recuperación de fauna amenazada junto a las instalaciones hoteleras. Nuestro objetivo es favorecer la vida silvestre, potenciar el uso de la finca a modo de corredor biológico, restaurar el ecosistema y reforestar con especies autóctonas. Mediante estas actividades se puede repercutir en la mejora de las comunidades adyacentes fomentando la actividad económica mediante el desarrollo del ecoturismo de calidad y por medio de la educación ambiental.

Cada cuatro o seis semanas tenemos un grupo de voluntarios nuevos en el centro de rescate, con muchísimas ganas de trabajar y aprender.

Siempre notamos tanto a los animales como los voluntarios trabar un preciosa asociación, y la felicidad se refleja en las caras de todos. Siempre hay cosas que hacer, alimentación, limpieza, cuidados…

Dentro del programa tenemos dos modalidades de voluntariado, 1. Profesionales del mundo animal y 2. No Profesionales del mundo animal (sin responsabilidad en el manejo de animales).

Valentina is a raccoon who were in captivity, was rescued and brought to our center a few months ago, was very small at that time, today has grown up and is about to be re-inserted in their natural habitat.

Valentina se recuperó de un lugar llamado Heredia. En el vídeo está siendo sometida a revisión rutinaria en veterinario.

Coco, un mono al borde de la muerte. / Coco, a monkey to death.

Hoy queremos contaros otra historia de las que vivimos en el centro de rescate Paraíso Carlisa.

Infinitas gracias a la doctora Yesenia Alpizar Naranjo por su profesionalidad, su dedicación y haber abandonado un domingo su vida familiar y correr en nuestra ayuda para atender de urgencia a Coco, un bebe de mono Congo.

El domingo, en una revisión de rutina nos encontramos a coco en su recinto casi inconsciente (una hora antes estaba saltando y comiendo) casi sin pulso.

Viendo como se nos moría en las manos.

Un domingo por la mañana no localizábamos a un veterinario de urgencias por lo cual nos metimos en el coche con Coco y mientras conducíamos hacia Parrita (pueblo mas poblado y con recursos) llamábamos a las clínicas veterinarias más cercanas... tras muchas llamadas a las clínicas que podían estar a menos de 30 km del centro de rescate, localizamos a la doctora Yesenia (viajamos desde Paraíso Carlisa hasta herradura un trayecto de 70 km), creímos un par de veces que se nos había muerto, aun así Coco se aferraba a la vida.Una vez en la clínica y ya casi sin esperanzas, llego en shock, la doctora Yesenia lo empezó a tratar (oxigeno, medicamento por vía intravenosa, nos sorprendió como le agarro la vía a un monito tan pequeño tan rápidamente) en menos de una hora lo estabilizo, recupero el pulso, la temperatura y se le empezaba a ver con otra cara.

Tras un día en la clínica, gracias a la doctora y su personal que sabemos que lo mimaron y chinearon como nunca, salvó la vida.

Aun está un poco débil, y llora si no esta acompañado, aun así, hoy podemos mostraros como se mete a jugar con las mariposas dentro del recinto del mariposario.

Muchas gracias a la clínica Yan Herradura a todo su equipo y en especial a la doctora Yesenia.

Today we want to tell you another story that we live in Paradise Carlisa Rescue Centre.

We want to thank Dr. Yesenia Alpizar Naranjo for their professionalism, dedication and abandoning a Sunday family life and run to our aid to meet emergency Coco, a baby monkey Congo.

On Sunday a routine we find Coco in her nearly unconscious enclosure (one hour before he was jumping and eating) almost pulseless and dying.

One Sunday morning is hard to find a vet emergency, so we got into the car and as we drove towards Parrita (village more populous and resourceful) called to the closest veterinary clinics... After many calls to clinics from downtown locate Yesenia doctor we thought a few times that he had died, Coco still clung to life.


Once in the clinic and almost hopeless, arrived in shock, Yesenia doctor what started trying (oxygen, intravenous medication, surprised as grabbed the vein to such a small monkey as fast) in less than an hour it stabilized, recovery pulse, temperature and was beginning to see another face.

After a day at the clinic and by the doctor and his staff Coco saved his life.

Even is a bit weak, and cries if not accompanied, still today we can show you how to play gets butterflies in the butterfly enclosure.

Como ya os contamos hace unos días, hay nuevos voluntarios en el centro de rescate, llevan a cabo una labor muy importante para nosotros, aunque también tienen tiempo para divertirse.
